This school describes itself as «a bicultural meeting centre» and, although there are pupils from many different nationalities who attend the school, its objective is to encourage linguistic and sociocultural relations between Spain and Germany. Its method is far removed from traditional classes - logical reasoning is encouraged and the pupils are encouraged to develop their own understanding and critical capacities, as well as the ability to discuss and defend their opinions. Oral exams, as a result of class participation, are extremely important when it comes to student assessment.

Founded in 1970 in Madrid, this school was brought into the spotlight by the press coverage of a case of alleged student harrassment. It is one of just 15 Swiss schools abroad. Classes are taught in German, from the 5th year of primary school English is compulsory and French is optional for A Level students. Because of the multilingual nature of the Swiss school system, the pupils receive extra tuition for German, Maths and Spanish within the school timetable, the classes are adapted to the learning ability of the students. There is a separate Music School where a variety of lessons from piano to hip hop or how to form a rock band are taught. Other activities include "Economics Week" when students learn how to set up a new company using a computer programme.
SPECIAL FEATURES: All pupils pass the Spanish entrance exam, as well as the Swiss "Matura" exam, which means they have the option of attending Spanish, Swiss or German universities.

This is a relatively small school where the emphasis is placed on creativity and the stimulation of thought and imagination. With more than 30 nationalities attending the school, there is a very international atmosphere here, despite the core British nature of the school.
The Primary school offers a comfortable and stimulating environment and the Secondary school also has its own building. The syllabus is based on the British National Curriculum taught in English, with two compulsory subjects taught in Spanish, and there is an impressive selection of optional subjects available. As well as the range of academic studies, other activities such as Judo, horse riding, ballet, music and chess are taught, and all pupils are well prepared for university in Britain, Spain or elsewhere in the world.

The ICS was founded in 1980 and is a mixed, multi-national day school for students aged 3 to 18. It is an "international" school in every sense of the word. Seven out of ten pupils are foreign and from a wide variety of countries, offering a rich diversity of cultures in the school. Lessons are taught in English and French is taught from 11 years upwards. Spanish is taught as a separate subject. Humanitarian activities are highly encouraged and two or three times a year the pupils attend United Nations conferences.

Parents can also join the French lessons.

When you enter this school, you walk into a world of imagination, emotion and creativity, where children are clearly happy, thanks to the small size of the school. Montessori is a British concept which combines the pros of the British curriculum with the science and methodology of the Montessori system. It allows the pupil to develop in a spontaneous and natural way. The atmosphere here is international, with pupils of 25 different nationalities and the curriculum here is recognised by the Spanish equivalent. Runnymede College is a private school which offers a British education to boys and girls of all nationalities from the age of 3 to 18. The school is inspected periodically by British Inspectors whose Report to the British Council and the Spanish Ministry of Education and Culture is the basis of the authorization given to the School.
